Welcome home DollZone Kimi!



Here is my new little beauty, my first proper BJD! She is a resin, MSD size dolly with double joints (which I'm liking a lot).

Before she even arrived I started making a wig for her, so that she wouldn't be completely naked for so long. It came out quite well, I followed the same method as detailed in my post from April this year, with a slight difference. On my Hujoo Berry's wig I was using Alpaca wool fibre for the hair, whereas this time I decided to try synthetic Kanekalon hair used by hairdressers for wigs and hair pieces.

As well as preparing the strips of hair by gluing the ends, this time I glued them onto strips of very thin vilene and I also sewed across them once dried for extra hold.

I then sewed these strips to the wig cap as below:

 


So as you can sort of see I started at the bottom on the back of the wig cap and worked my way up and around the head, sewing each of the strips of hair to the cap.

I did take quite a bit longer of course than gluing them, but with a much more secure hold, and it also looks better and more neat.



Kimi is deep in thought about what she is going to wear! 
 Over the next few weeks Kimi is going to be fitted for her new outfit, and since she says she likes enchanted forests and being in nature I'm going to make her a leafy-green wood-elfin outfit that she can feel cosy and at home in.

And I shall also introduce her to her new little cheeky goblin friend, as he knows his way around any magical forest!

    this is great- it looks like you put two opposite strips ontop to create a part? how far back do they go?
    I cant make out how you put on the sides- round & round?

      Hi mica, thanks for your comment. Yes, for the parting I put 2 opposite strips very close together so that you can't see the wig cap. These go from the front to the crown of the head, on my wig this was about 5cm. Then at the crown, at the end of the two parting strips, you need a very short strip that is sewn on in a curve shape so that the hair sits more naturally.
      For the sides I didn't go round in a spiral, instead I started on one side of the head and worked my way around to the other side. Then I would start on the next row.

Nier: Automata - All the 2B Dolls and Figures I Can Find

Dear Square Enix - we want more Nier: Automata Dolls and Figures to collect. We NEED them! Please and thank you. My current gaming obsession, together with countless other millions of dedicated fans, is Nier: Automata. So who's with me on wishing they could afford to add the Black Box Edition's collector's figure of main character 2B to their roster of dolls and figures Just look how awesomely cool she is! But at £226.96 (+ £31 p&p) that's not going to happen for me right now. Nier: Automata - Dollfie Is Making A 9S Doll As Well!

A BJD of 9S! Dollfie have announced their release of a 9S BJD and I managed to find this picture of him! Adorable right? He appears to be a little less tall than 2B, just like in the game which is great. A release date hasn't been announced yet, and nor has the price point, but knowing Dollfie I wouldn't expect anything less than £1000.  Which is a minus point for me personally, but understandable for a limited edition production.  However I'm really, really looking forward to all the photos popping up over the internet of 2B and 9S together once they've both been released - I'm hoping there will be lots of adorable photostories. People of the internet: please make it happen!  ☺ Another thing - this music video collaboration between Square Enix and Japanese rock band Amazarashi is where we caught our first glimpse of 2B as a Dollfie doll.
